Ashna Gakhar

Ashna represents both employers and employees navigating a range of issues facing workplaces – both unionized and non unionized. Ashna brings compassion, determination and sound judgement to her work on behalf of clients. Her solution-oriented mindset and both legal and business acumen inform her advice for and advocacy of the firm’s clients.

Ashna completed law school in Canada and the USA, earning Juris Doctor degrees in both countries from the University of Windsor and University of Detroit Mercy. Prior to attending law school, Ashna graduated from the Schulich School of Business at York University, earning an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

During law school, Ashna was awarded the Detroit Mercy Law Book Award and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award for her academic achievement in the 1L Comparative Legal Writing & Research II course. In her second year, she went on to serve as a Teaching Assistant for the course. In addition, Ashna was selected for a judicial externship at the Third Judicial Circuit Court of Michigan and worked as a Student Attorney at University of Detroit Mercy’s Environmental Law Clinic. Both of these experiences informed her advocacy and empathy.

Outside of work, Ashna is a trained Bollywood dancer and has participated in various stage performances. She also enjoys visiting coffee shops around Toronto and going for walks along the Toronto Harbourfront.
